Our Data Visualisation of the Internet-Breaking Revoke Article 50 Petition

The online petition asking the British government and Parliament to revoke Article 50 and remain in the European Union has been gathering support, to the point that it has taken down the government's Petitions web portal several times during the last couple of days.

We at ICS-digital are passionate about data and since the Petitions website offers an endpoint from which you can gather a detailed breakdown of every petition's geographical make-up, we decided to take the opportunity to visualise it.

At first, we wanted to create a visualisation of the distribution amongst all inland constituencies but we quickly realised that it had already been done. So, instead, we decided to show the breakdown of the petition's support abroad. After all, the British population overseas is also part of the Brexit debate and feels very strongly about this issue.

So, let's take a look at our own interactive visualisation of the petition, as the number of signatures passes the 3.3m mark.
